How To Stop Drinking Alcohol Safely

Alcohol Detox Treatments

There are only three safe ways to stop drinking alcohol safely: outpatient alcohol detox at home, in the community or residential alcohol detox. They are medical treatments, and the detox usually involves diazepam or Librium prescription medications to help mitigate alcohol withdrawals and provide as comfortable an experience as possible. We can help point you towards all three treatments. Call to start treatment today.

Alcohol Home Detox

A home alcohol detox involves a medical assessment and doctor consultation. This could with your own GP or done privately. Based on your diagnosis, a doctor will usually prescribe all the medications you need, such as Chlordiazepoxide (Librium) medication, vitamins, sleeping pills and anything else you need to safely and comfortably withdraw from alcohol.

We provide expert advice and seamlessly coordinate with certified medical partners to arrange your home alcohol detox in London. When you obtain your detox medications and begin their journey to sobriety and recovery, we are here for support during any detox, and we can help motivate you during detox and encourage sobriety. Detox is just the beginning of the sobriety journey. You can call us anytime for support too. Ask us for advice on how to get sober and stay sober. Our specialism lies in helping people stay sober.

Outpatient Detox

Outpatient alcohol detox is where you attend a clinic or medical practice during the day, but still stay at home overnight. Clients receive a similar level of medication as a home alcohol detox and medical attention as they would in a residential setting, albeit they take some medications home for evening dosage. It is sometimes called alcohol dayhab or outpatient rehab.

Depending on the clinic attended, people usually have around 7 days' medical treatment (the typical treatment time for alcohol detoxification, although it's not uncommon for up to 10 days depending on withdrawal symptoms and other factors) with attendance at the clinic depending on each local service provider - some prefer daily visits while others prefer to attend the first few days. Unlike a home detox programme, clients can receive pabrinex injections and drips, as well as other clinical therapies and treatments to help them detox comfortably.

Inpatient Detox

Inpatient or residential detox is where you stay in a clinic for the duration of your alcohol detox. This is usually either a specialist detox unit or undertaken in a rehab clinic facility. Most clinics have a 7-day or 10-day detox (which can be extended), whilst other clinics are 14 days minimum stay.

You receive all of your medical treatment in the clinic, as well as your meals and sleep there. For obvious reasons, this is the highest level of alcohol detox care people can receive due to the round-the-clock care. For those who can't attend outpatient or where home detox is unsuitable, perhaps due to health issues or chronically high levels of drinking, residential treatment is always the best option.

We never take a fee from you nor do we get any commission from any detox or rehab clinic, but we can offer guidance on what might be helpful.

We Are A Sobriety and Counselling Service That Can Help You Get And Stay Sober

About Detox Today

We take care of the whole process. From speaking to the individual or their representative, right through to treatment and one-to-one aftercare and sober coaching.

Our services are efficient, worry-free and life-saving. We are independent, and we are highly experienced, so we help you choose the right treatment path – whatever and wherever that is – that’s best for you. Whether it’s alcohol detox, private clinics, detox units and rehab centres, we have years of experience in guiding people towards treatment. As an independent service, we can advise where to get the best UK addiction treatment and methods of recovery with the best chance of success, tailored to the person. We know how to get people well, and it is not one-size-fits all or any particular clinic. We know all providers in the UK and know the nuances between treatments. And we know cost is important too. We can point you towards excellent value treatment all over the UK. Not all alcohol home detoxes and rehabs are the same, and many charge premium costs but deliver substandard service. We know, we’ve all worked in the industry for decades.

At Detox Today, our job is to help people overcome addiction, save lives and stop unwanted pain for the individual, their loved ones, colleagues and wider circle. Contact us today to find out how we can help.
